A Chinese-born Canadian pop star Kris Wu was sentenced to 13 years in jail after a Beijing court found him guilty of crimes including rape.
The court in Chaoyang district said that from November to December 2020, Wu, also known as Wu Yifan, raped three women.
The court found him guilty of the crime of assembling a crowd to engage in sexual promiscuity in July 2018, the court s official WeChat account said.
It said that Wu, 32, would be deported, although lawyers in China have said deportations typically take place after a defendant serves their sentence.
On July 31, 2021, Wu was arrested in Beijing after an 18-year-old Chinese student publicly accused him of inducing her and other girls, some of whom were under 18, to have sex with him.
According to state media, officials from the Canadian Embassy in Beijing attended the sentencing.
