Pokemon games' global sales exceed 10 million units

The global sales of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have exceeded 10 million units. GAME FREAK inc. was founded in 1995 -- 2022 by Nintendo Creatures Inc.

The company said on November 24 that the global sales of the latest Pokemon games reached 10 million units in the first three days of their release, a record-setting pace for game titles of Nintendo Co.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet were released on November 18 for the company's flagship game console, the Nintendo Switch. After three days, the sales had surpassed the previous global record set by Animal Crossing. In Japan, 4.05 million units of the Pokemon games were sold in the three-day period, breaking the previous domestic sales record of 3.45 million set by Splatoon 3. The Pokemon series is produced by Pokemon Co., an affiliate of Nintendo.

The Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet releases were the first in three years for the series.

The newest titles are the first open-world role-playing games in the Pokemon series.

The format gives players more freedom and range to explore the virtual world under an unstructured storyline.
