FTX founder, Sam Bankman- Fried, denies drug use at office

Sam Bankman- Fried, founder of FTX, denied witnessing any illegal drug use at the exchange's office or office parties.

In an interview with the New York Times columnist and CNBC anchor Andrew Ross Sorkin, the 30-year-old was asked about the use of drugs, including tweets about stimulants, and whether he had been taking a drug for Parkinson's called Emsam.

After 21 st birthday, I had my first sip of alcohol. I think I have a half a glass of alcohol a year. Bankman- Fried replied on Wednesday that there were no wild parties here.

I didn't see any illegal drug use at the office or at these parties. He said that when I say parties, I mean having people over for dinner.

Bankman- Fried had tweeted about the topic of stimulants years before FTX declared bankruptcy and rumors spread about Emsam in recent weeks.

Caroline Ellison, who was in a months-long relationship with Bankman-Fried and was the chief executive of his trading firm Alameda Research, had tweeted last year about regular amphetamine use.

I can't talk about anyone else. Bankman- Fried told Sorkin that they had been prescribed various things at different times to help with focus and concentration. I haven't felt any of the impact people have been theorizing from it. He said that it is not a huge impact in the first place. I think these have been on-label use of medication that I think helps me focus a bit. I wish I had been more focused over the last year. He was interviewed by ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, who echoed these statements in a wide-ranging sit-down interview.
