Developer CapitaLand creates virtual influencer Rae to test new technology during COVID-19

SINGAPORE: Developer CapitaLand announced on Friday that they created virtual influencer Rae to test the commercial viability of new virtual technology during the COVID-19 epidemic.

The developer's managing director Tan Bee Leng said that the rae on Instagram was designed as a practical solution to enhance customer engagement by brands in the virtual realm.

The virtual influencer, which was launched in October 2020, has more than 24,000 followers on Instagram. The team behind her was unknown until now.

The virtual influencer has fronted several campaigns with fashion brands like Moschino and Gucci, said CapitaLand in a separate press release.

The developer said in a press conference on Friday that they will hand over usage rights for Rae to marketing and advertising agency network Dentsu.

CapitaLand believes that the industry will benefit from the learnings with the project, despite the fact that the experiment with Rae has exceeded initial expectations.

She said on Friday that the COVID 19 pandemic caused us to think about what we could do at a time when face-to-face interaction was almost impossible and physical interaction was almost unavoidable.

That was the time our group CEO gave us a challenge, of all the things that we are doing for our tenants and our retailers. What else can we do?
