UNDP, FBiH Environmental Protection Fund sign MoU of cooperation in Sarajevo

A Memorandum of Cooperation in Sarajevo was signed by a resident representative of the United Nations Development Program UNDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Steliana Nedera, and Director of the Environmental Protection Fund of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Esad Humo, who signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Sarajevo, which provides a framework for stronger cooperation between the UNDP and the Fund in the field of sustainable waste management, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy

In the last four years, UNDP Steliana Nedera said that around 70 million USD of the funds were managed in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina through various projects, of which about 20 million USD were allocated to energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources.

We need to increase the measures and mechanisms for introducing positive changes in more households, for more individuals and in more local communities, because of our cooperation with environmental protection funds in BiH. It is very pleased that we signed this Memorandum of Cooperation, which confirms our long-term partnership and readiness to continue working together, said Nedera on that occasion.

The Director of the FBiH Environmental Protection Fund, Esad Humo, expressed satisfaction with the signing of the Memorandum confirming long-term cooperation and commitment to joint work in the future.

He thanked UNDP, which recognized the institutional role and capacities of the Fund, in financing and implementation projects, as well as the more recent agency role of collecting and processing data on the environment and energy efficiency.

The UNDP provides a lot of support to the authorities in BiH to meet the Nationally Determined Contributions NDC, which is at the heart of the Paris Agreement and promises to reduce national gas emissions and adapt to the negative impacts of climate change.
