Iran's morality police suspended after months of protests

After months of massive anti-government protests over the death of a young woman in its custody, Iran's morality police have been suspended, a top official said.

The police force, known as the Guidance Patrol, has been in charge of major intersections and thoroughfares in Iranian cities for years, arresting mostly young women for flouting the Islamic Republic's strict religious dress codes.

The Guidance Patrol has nothing to do with the judiciary, it has been suspended by the same institution that formed it in the past, according to the semi-official Iranian Labour News Agency. The judiciary is still watching the behavior in the community. This could be due to a conflict with your ad blocker or security software. I have added jp and piano.io to your list of allowed sites.
