The Ministry of Health MOH announced on Tuesday that the bivalent Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty COVID 19 vaccine will be offered to people aged 12 and above from December 12, the bivalent COVID 19 vaccine will be available in Singapore.

Pfizer-BioNTech's bivalent vaccine was granted interim authorisation in Singapore on 25 October.

If a booking has already been made, those who have already made a booking to receive the monovalent Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine can be rescheduling their appointments to a new date on or after December 12, to receive the updated bivalent vaccine, said MOH.

It will be available at all locations that currently offer the Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine. An SMS will be sent to those who are eligible with a personalised booking link to make an appointment.

The ministry said that with the extension of the bivalent Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccine to 12 years and above, persons aged 12 to 17 years should also receive an additional bivalent vaccine dose about five months after their last booster dose.

Children aged six months to four years will soon be able to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine for their primary vaccination series, according to the Health Ministry.

It consists of three doses, each given eight weeks apart. The ministry said that more details on the roll out will be announced later.

Two separate doses are given for children aged six months to four years old, given the Moderna Spikevax vaccine.
