Apple’s mixed-reality headset will be available by fall, report says

According to Bloomberg, Apple will make its mixed-reality headset available to consumers in spring and will make it available to consumers by fall.

The new xrOS operating system will be named the Reality Pro, according to the outlet. A group of software developers selected by Apple have already been given early access to the headset.

Apple has a formidable position in the virtual and augmented reality industry, with its tablets and smartphone products that allow users to experience augmented reality from third-party developers.

The soon-to- be announced headset will put the technology giant directly in competition with Mark Zuckerberg'sZuckerberg's Meta. In the last year, Zuckerberg launched the metaverse, a virtual reality landscape that allows users to interact with other users from around the world.

Apple's mixed-reality product, however, combines real-world environments with simulated computer imagery rather than entirely virtual spaces.

In the report, Bloomberg noted that Apple plans to provide minor updates to its MacBooks, Watch, TV and iPads. The headset is scheduled to be the main feature of the company's new innovation this year.

During the holiday season, Apple experienced delays in shipping its latest iPhone 14 after its largest factory in central China shut down due to protests over the country's COVID 19 policies.
