Boca Raton’s most expensive home sells for $15.4 million

One of the most expensive listings Boca Raton has seen is a nearly 10,000 square foot home in the South Florida city's tony Royal Palm Yacht Country Club.

The one-story main house, built in 1964, was designed by the notable Palm Beach architect Bryon Simonson and has an open layout with a coastal vibe. The acoustic elements include a white-brick facade, a cedar-shake roof, high ceilings, light-filled rooms and slate floors. In the 1980s, a guest house was added to the property by its last owner, the late Patricia Carpenter, who was a prominent Boca Raton socialite and philanthropist.

Carmen D Angelo of Premier Estate Properties said that the main residence, even though built in the 60 s, has a style that is modern and fresh.

The biggest selling point of the property, according to Mr. D Angelo, is the 261 feet of water frontage along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Most of the waterfront homes in Boca have 100 feet or less water frontage, so this is a rare find, he said. The owners are spoiled with privacy and expansiveness. The outdoor areas also include three driveways, manicured lawns, a swimming pool and several patios.

On the interior, water views abound, including the living, family and dining rooms. The living room has floor-to- ceiling windows, while the dining room has a vaulted wood plank ceiling, marble floors and a towering 70 candle chandelier. Other highlights include a glass-encased solarium with a cathedral ceiling and a primary bedroom with a wet bar and separate sitting room. The suite's bathroom offers panoramas of water and has a large marble bath.

The main house is 8,162 square feet and has four bedrooms, five full bathrooms and two half baths. The guest house is 1,800 square feet and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The largest draw is the 261 feet of water frontage along the Intracoastal Waterway. Other amenities include a swimming pool, three entrance driveways, an outdoor entertaining pavilion with a bar, multiple patios, a guest house, a boat lift and a four-car garage.

Royal Palm Yacht Country Club is a prestigious neighborhood with 24 hour security. Residents can join the namesake private country club, which has a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a marina.

Downtown Boca Raton is a 10 minute walk away and full of restaurants and stores, while Mizner Park is a district with high-end shops, an amphitheater and restaurants.
