Pop-up store in Japan to let customers try on wearable beanbags

For limited time this month, a pop-up store in Japan is set to let customers try on wearable beanbags, which have surged in popularity on social media.

From February 6 to 19 people will be able to try on the beanbags at the Shinjuku Marui main store in Tokyo. The company created a wearable beanbag for an event in 2015, and a staffer wore it as part of a promotion, according to Takikou Sewing, based in the Aichi Prefecture City of Okazaki.

When customers tried it on, it was so popular that they said they wanted one at home, so the company started offering them for sale at the end of 2022. At first, there was little buzz, with not a single unit sold.

On January 25th this year, a picture of a model wearing a huge beanbag cushion trended on social media and within a week or so the business received orders for a total of more than 1,500 units. It will take two months for the company to ship a product after receiving an order, since the products are handmade at the company's factory in Japan.

The Hanalolo brand only handles mail orders, so customers are not able to see the products in stores. After receiving a lot of inquiries from customers who wanted to try on the wearable cushions, Takikou Sewing decided to open a pop-up store where people could test out the products.

The store will have four large wearable beanbags on hand for adults, along with two medium and two small ones for children to try on. A representative said we couldn't pass up this chance, because we decided we couldn't pass it up. There is a knack to putting them on, but once you get used to them, you can be lazy anywhere in the house.
