EDMOND TANG CHINA DAILY HONG KONG - A rescue team sent by China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region HKSAR has successfully rescued four survivors during its nine-day mission in quake-stricken Trkiye, the team's leader said on Monday.
Yiu Men-yeung, the commander of the HKSAR search and rescue team, said this is the first time that the HKSAR rescue team cooperated with the national rescue team from the Chinese mainland, which has provided rich and valuable experience in search and rescue operations to the HKSAR rescue team.
Yiu Men-yeung, commander of the HKSAR search and rescue team, told media that the HKSAR rescue team searched 32 to 40 buildings and carried out checks in 13 zones with a total area of about 28,550 square meters during the nine days.

Yiu said this is the first time that the HKSAR rescue team cooperated with the national rescue team from the Chinese mainland, which had rich and valuable experience in search and rescue operations for the HKSAR rescue team.
On February 6, a strong earthquake struck southern T rkiye near the Syrian border, causing heavy casualties.
The search and rescue team of 59 members, including officials from security, fire services, immigration and health, sent the search and rescue team to the affected areas on February 8.
The rescue team of Hong Kong was given hero s welcome on return to Hong Kong.
The HKSAR rescue team arrived in Beijing on a chartered flight with the national rescue team on the night of February 16 and returned to Hong Kong on February 17.
