In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 75.9 percent of households do not have access to the Internet, while 23.9 percent do not have access, while 0.2 percent of households do not know whether they have access to the Internet.
According to the data released by the BiH Statistics Agency, 78.8 percent of respondents used the Internet in the past three months, 2.1 percent for more than a year, and 18.5 percent of households never used the Internet.
In the last three months, 77 percent of women and 80.8 percent of men used the Internet in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 53.3 percent of pensioners, 84.1 percent are unemployed, 95.2 percent are employed, while the percentage of students is 100 percent.
The most common reasons for using the internet for private purposes in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2022 are : search for information about goods and services 75.8 percent, reading online portals, online newspapers and magazines 70.3 percent, sending online messages via skype, messenger, whatsapp, viber, etc. The participation in social networks was 70.7 percent and the Internet was 93.6 percent of the total.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, internet banking services are used by 20.1 percent of households today, while this percentage was 7.8 percent in 2019.
The purpose of the research was to show the level of use of computers and other information and communication technologies, as well as the number of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina who are Internet users, and for what purposes the Internet is used. These data are an important source of information for the implementation of policies in the information society sector.
The household chosen as a sample was the unit of observation, and the unit of survey was a member of the household between 16 and 74 years of age. The sample was designed as a three-stage random sample. The sampling units of the first stage were one or more enumeration circles.
Randomly selected households with at least one household member aged 16 -- 74 within the census circles were the units of the second sampling stage, while randomly selected persons within those selected households were the units of the third sampling stage.
