EU wants to phase out coal, carbon fuels by 2050, says envoy in Mostar

Ambassador Johann Sattler, head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Mostar yesterday said that the EU wants to phase out the use of coal and carbon fuels by the year 2050, and BiH is a major topic that dominates the European Union and the whole world. On the eve of the expert discussion entitled Measures, steps and incentives to improve energy efficiency in companies and households, which was organized by the EU Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Intera technology park in Mostar, Sattler said that the EU prepared 70 million euros for Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Energy Support Package, a third of which will be distributed as EU support for small and medium-sized companies and households to improve energy efficiency.

Among the 70 million euros available to Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Energy Support Package, 50 million euros will be available at the end of this month and in the beginning of next month to help the most vulnerable families facing high prices. The remaining twenty million will be spent on micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and households to improve energy efficiency, emphasized Sattler.

He said that 4,000 buildings will be able to be renovated through this program. 400 micro, small and medium-sized companies will get help in order to improve energy efficiency.

Jasmina Kafedi, head of the Energy Efficiency Sector in the FBiH Environmental Protection Fund, pointed out that EU energy aid funds will be distributed through public calls to households and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises for energy efficiency measures.

There will be two entity funds for environmental protection in FBiH and RS and it will be allowed to apply for energy efficiency measures on the buildings and mechanical installations, i.e. Kafed i Fena said that they are responsible for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and the production of electricity from photovoltaic power plants.
