The Foreign Ministry of Jordan condemned Israel's announcement to build over a thousand new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories on Saturday.

According to the ministry's spokesperson Sinan Al-Majali, constructing these units constitutes a clear violation of international law, notably Security Council Resolution 2334.

He emphasized that Israel's settlement policy undermines the foundations of peace and attempts to achieve a two-state solution based on international legitimacy.

The spokesperson said Israel's unilateral practices, which include building and expanding settlements, land confiscation and displacing Palestinians, are illegal and illegitimate and should be rejected and condemned.

In a statement on Friday, Israel's anti-settlement watchdog Peace Now said that the Israeli Land Authority has published more than 1,000 housing units in the West Bank.
