Ben Carson says blue states should not be tired of poor school performance

Democrat-led states should not be tired of their poor school performance and take note of what one red state has done to help students succeed and excel, according to former U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson.

The kids in Baltimore City looked at 23 public schools to see if they were at grade level in math. There were thousands of children examined, but not a single one, Carson said on the Varney Co. Wednesday.

He said that this is happening in a lot of the blue states. The children are not educated. It is almost like it's a purposeful dumbing down of people. A retired neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate recently wrote an op-ed detailing how Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's education policy has expanded school choice opportunities and returned taxpayer dollars to public schools. Carson said that states are not going to be able to see progress without voter turnout.

SHARK TANK S''MOST EXCITING INVESTMENT: People have to get involved and recognize that if America is going to be successful, the people have to be involved, he stated. In his opinion piece, Carson said that students living in states with school choice score better on standardized testing and classroom performance. The former Trump Cabinet member claimed that he added competition to the education market and letting families take charge of their child's individual needs is key to improvement.

Carson wrote for Fox News that parents want to be honest with their children's history, including the good, the bad and ugly, free from political biases and radical agendas. By introducing school choice measures, Abbott empowers parents to fight back against leftist ideologies in our schools and remove their children from what they consider unhealthy influences. Carson also called out the Democratic agenda that prioritizes social costs, like reparations for Black communities, instead of education reforms.

It's not a good idea because there are a lot of Black people who came to this country after slavery, who were never slaves and their ancestors were not slaves. There are other Black people here who were slave owners. The former secretary posited.

If you really want to be smart, you know that there is a wealth gap between Black and White in this country, except if you look at Nigerians and Ghanaians, Carson pointed out. There is a lot of emphasis on education and family. If you look at American blacks who've been here for a long time, where the emphasis is on education and family, you don't see a wealth gap either. Carson argued that education equality isn't widely broadcast by the left because it really flies in the face of their narrative that if you have black skin, you're at a terrible disadvantage. You're here: You're born in Great Britain, people from Germany, people from Ireland, people from Africa, people from South America, Carson said. Let's not let someone destroy that for us.
