Italy's Kishida calls for international community at UN democracy summit

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Wednesday that the international community is the absolute minimum needed to ensure peace during a virtual summit on democracy led by the United States.

On the opening day of the two-day event involving more than 120 countries, civil society groups and technology companies, Kishida pledged to take a leading role in strengthening democracy as chair of the Group of Seven summit this year and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

Kishida said I saw evidence of Russia's aggression and heard directly from those who had experienced atrocities with my own eyes. I renewed my conviction that we humans must position the rule of law as a norm that our society should follow. This could be due to a conflict with your Adblocking or Security software.
