Polish grid gets 109 percent electricity from micro-power

The Polish energy watchdog reported that the electrical grid had 109 percent more electricity in 2022 because of the micro-power generation, most of which consists of solar panels.

According to the Energy Regulatory Office URE, such installations contributed in 2022 5.8 TWh of energy, which is compared to 2.7 TWh in 2021.

More than 1.2 million micro-installations were connected to the grid at the end of 2022, with the total installed capacity exceeding 9.3 GW, of which 99 percent were photovoltaic installations.

The URE said that 96 percent of installed capacity was made up of consumer installations, which both consume and produce electricity.
