Bashmirican Institute of Human Rights launches database on judicially established facts

The aim of the project is to provide sources of information based on facts that can be used for educational and informative purposes, thereby raising the level of public understanding and ensuring support for dealing with the past and opposing revisionist narratives, misinformation and denial of crimes.

The Executive Director of BIRN BiH Denis D idi said this is a starting point, followed by a update of the database that refers to the judgments of the Court of BiH, local and regional courts, which will serve as a platform for communication of a new approach to judicially established facts.

This was a rather unusual project for us, with which we wanted to do something different from media reporting and reporting on trials, and make a step forward within the segment that concerns education. D idi said at a roundtable on the topic How to teach judicially established facts about the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina challenges and perspectives in which the aforementioned base of judicially established facts was presented.

He stated that he believes that this concept will be accepted on a partnership basis so that in future he can educate young people about what happened in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that it will be possible to make the presented base more useful for teachers, competent ministries, and institutes.

D idi announced that a complete database will be delivered to the competent ministries in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that working meetings will be organized on this occasion to determine the next steps.

In addition to the judgments, BIRN BiH also published ten short documentaries for each region, which together with the facts established by the courts form a multimedia base for lectures and learning about the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to Fena.
