Polish prime minister refuses to accept EU ban on sale of new cars

The Polish government will never accept an EU ban on the sale of new CO2 emitting cars from 2035, according to Mateusz Morawiecki, the Polish prime minister.

Morawiecki wrote on Thursday that he will do everything in his power to protect Polish families against a pseudo-ideological idea that is being promoted by rich countries and bureaucrats from Brussels.

The European Council on Tuesday approved regulations to end the sale of new CO2 emitting cars in 2035. It is expected that all cars sold in the EU will have zero emissions from 2035 and 55 percent less CO2 emissions from 2030, compared to 2021 levels.

Poland was the only country that voted against the EU Council directive. Italy, Romania and Bulgaria abstaining.
