After stating that it was ready for launch and awaiting regulatory approval, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said this week the launch will be postponed until later this month rather than sometime this week.
The Starship was built to be reusable and carry astronauts and cargo to Earth, the moon, and Mars.
The rocket is scheduled to lift off at SpaceX's Starbase facilities at Boca Chica in south Texas.
Musk said Starship launch trending towards near the end of third week of April. The Federal Aviation Administration said the launch's primary expected date was April 4th, the first expected date for the launch was April 4th.
The FAA later issued a revised notice indicating that the launch could now be held on April 17.
SpaceX still needs a launch license from the FAA for its first orbital test from Boca Chica, subject to the completion of a federal environmental compliance review.
