Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' super yacht, the luxury yacht, is finally being put to use by its new owner. The superyacht Koru, with a price tag of $500 million, was handed over in early April by Bezos.
TMZ reported that Bezos and his partner Lauren Sanchez were on the new boat off the coast of Spain's Mallorca island. Unlike the diesel-powered ones usually used by billionaires, Koru is a boat that glides on water.
A wooden carving of a mermaid with long hair and angelic wings on the prow of Koru drew everyone's attention. The internet quickly pointed out the figurine's similarities to Sanchez, which was the billionaire's tribute to his girlfriend.
Boat International said that Bezos' Koru is 127 meters long, the world's largest yacht and the largest built in the Netherlands.

The vessel's construction has been completed and sea trials have been completed since February. Construction of the yacht, which formerly went by the code name Y 721, took about five years.
Oceanco, a Dutch custom yacht builder responsible for Koru, faced controversy when it asked the dismantling of a historic bridge in Rotterdam to allow Koru's three tall masts to pass under the bridge.
Oceano protested the dismantling, causing locals to tow the boat to another shipyard without its masts under the cover of night. The masts were installed a few days later.
The yacht's height is 230 feet, and it necessitates a crew of 40 sailors to operate. The annual operating expenses for the company are $225 million, not including its $500 million price tag.
