Japan ranks worst in OECD for women in nuclear sector

In a recent survey, Japan ranked last among 17 member nations of the OECD for economic cooperation and development in the ratio of women employed in the nuclear sector.

In 2021, just 15% of Japan's nuclear workforce was made up of women. The Nuclear Energy Agency said Norway had the highest female representation in the sector at around 60%, while France and Britain both had around 24.9 percent, the average figure for the 17 countries surveyed.

The average percentage of women in Japan who have been promoted rose to around 14% compared to the overall level of 27.1%.
