Most Americans don’t want presidential candidates’ Bitcoin right to use it

A recent Twitter poll by Michael Saylor, executive chairman of MicroStrategy Inc MSTR, has shown that a majority of Americans want presidential candidates to support their right to use Bitcoin BTCUSD.

An overwhelming 83.8% of voters responded No, even when asked whether they believe a presidential candidate must support their right to Bitcoin to secure their vote.

At the time of writing, the poll had nearly 31,000 responses, with 16.2 percent voting in the negative.

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis criticized President Joe Biden's approach to Bitcoin during a Twitter Space discussion with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

DeSantis said Bitcoin will die if Biden is re-elected. The current regime, evidently, has it out for Bitcoin. And if it continues for another four years, they'll probably end up killing it, he said.

Just days ago, Robert Kennedy Jr. of the Bitcoin Conference in Miami, Florida, emphasized the need to defend BTC against what he called invasive surveillance. He argued that Bitcoin is necessary for safeguarding privacy and maintaining freedom.

Earlier this week, former Coinbase President Balaji Srinivasan said Bitcoin will play a crucial role in the 2024 presidential elections, much as Twitter and Facebook did in past campaigns.

Bitcoin's value, which was up 3.83% in the past 24 hours, was $28,125 at the time of writing.
