Taco Bell brings back the Enchirito, a classic Nacho Fries

What's better, burrito or enchilada? Brands' Taco Bell answered the question in 1970 with a fan-favorite menu offering that's coming back, but only for a short time.

On May 25, the fast-food chain announced the return of the Enchirito, a cherished enchilada-burrito combination that has not been seen or eaten in Taco Bell restaurants since 2013.

The Enchirito is a thin, soft tortilla that is loaded with seasoned beef, beans, and onions rolled up and covered with red sauce topped with melted, shredded cheddar cheese. Taco Bell's customer service is limited and customers can only order it online or via Taco Bell's mobile app.

In a poll, Taco Bell Rewards Members chose to bring back the Enchirito in a poll last fall, giving customers a choice between it and the discontinued Double Decker Taco. The Enchirito won with 62% of the vote, with over 760,000 Taco Bell Rewards members participating in the clash of cravings, the chain said.

Taco Bell has also introduced a new item, the Steak Chile Verde Fries, which is a standout among the restaurant's classic Nacho Fries.

The new Steak Chile Verde Fries from Taco Bell feature a new Chile Verde sauce, packed with flavor from jalape o, lime, and herbs. Taco Bell's iconic Nacho Cheese sauce, three cheese blend, reduced fat sour cream, chewy Fiesta strips, and marinated and grilled steak are served with the sauce.

The new nacho fries come with a $3.49 price tag, which is good for lactose-tolerant fans. The Steak Chile Verde Fries Burrito is available for $3.99, with the same ingredients wrapped in a warm tortilla. There are vegetarian options available in the restaurant.

A mouthwatering savory, crunchy, scrumptious dish. These are the flavor and texture profiles our fans crave time and time again at each Nacho Fries moment, said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell's chief food innovation officer. Our food innovation team wanted to create a layered taste for Nacho Fries and we are proud of the boldness of the new Chile Verde sauce. With its balanced pops of lime, garlic, and jalape o, you can truly taste the balanced pops of lime, garlic, and jalape o in the sauce, and it is the perfect pairing for our favorite Nacho Fries. Taco Bell is famous for pulling menu items for a temporary period, which is exactly the case for the Enchirito.

On March 30, the chain held a poll asking Taco Bell Rewards Members to choose to bring back either the Beefy Crunch Burrito or the Cool Ranch Doritos Tacos. The Beefy Crunch Burrito won 59.9 percent of the vote and is scheduled to return to Taco Bell locations in August.
