Firefighters from the Patong Municipality responded to the fire on July 10th at a small bar on Bangla Road. Firefighters with four fire engines and the Phuket Express arrived at the scene. Chalermsak Maneesri, the mayor of Patong Municipality, was also present.
The third day of the unrest in France saw 500 public buildings and 1,900 vehicles set on fire.
Smoke was found at a small bar in a row of similar establishments, though Chalermsak said the exact name of the bar was unknown. The group of Good Samaritans nearby were trying to help extinguish the flames but failed to arrive before firefighters arrived. It took about 20 minutes to control the fire, but no injuries were reported.
