Ukrainian farmers prepare for protest

Producers dissatisfied with the policy in agriculture, however, remain near the capital city, ready to protest. The branches have discussed the proposals they received from the government after three hours of talks. If the government agrees to an agreement with the protest committee, protesters will disperse.

After two days of roadblocks and demonstrations, Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov announced that the import of sunflower seeds from Ukraine would be temporarily suspended until specific import quotas were negotiated with Kiev.

The authorities are discussing with Brussels the conditions for imports of Ukrainian grain, and they will also discuss additional funds to support the sector. The government plans to give more than 31 million euros to farmers to cover up their losses caused by the war in Ukraine, the minister of finance said.
