
The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee on Monday launched Ghar Ghar Congress' campaign to reach out to voters ahead of the Lok Sabha and state assembly polls.
The drive is intended to raise awareness among voters of the BJD government's failures in the state for 23 years, PCC campaign committee chairman Bijay Patnaik said.
It will continue until October 15, he said.
Patnaik, who launched the drive in Gajapati, said residents are aware of the anti-democratic rule of the BJD government and the BJP. They want a change and only Congress can provide them with good governance.
He also conducted door-to-door campaign in the town of Paralekhamundi to seek the people's support for the party.
The Congress leader said the party had led the Independence movement and started all development activities in the country. The government of Odisha built significant irrigation projects including Hirakud, Indravati and Upper Kolab, roads, hydro projects, schools and hospitals.
The Congress government also implemented the subsidised rice programme, and it was converted to an Act by then prime minister Manmohan Singh, he said.
The campaign was carried out by MLA Suresh Routray in the district of Khurda.
