On September 29, the Federation of Indian Export Organisations urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to extend benefits till March 2024 that were provided under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme.
The plan was ended in March 2023, according to the New York Times.
The Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme was introduced in May 2020 as a means of supporting eligible micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and business enterprises in meeting their operating liabilities and restarting their businesses in response to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a letter to Sitharaman, FIEO President A Sakthivel said the scheme was 'extremely helpful' and provided support to the industry.
