FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried forged ties with Tom Brady, supermodel Gisele Bündchen

Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, had strong ties with numerous influential figures in politics and business, but his most prominent connection appeared to be in the sports sector.

Bankman-Fried, despite not being a sports fan, forged significant partnerships with sports icon Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bündchen, Fortune reported.

Brady became FTX's ambassador, as he actively endorses the brand on platforms like TikTok, events, and advertisements.

These developments come to light when the digital currency community gears up for Benzinga's Future of Digital Assets conference on Nov. 14, where such partnerships will be among the topics of discussion.

In 2021, Brady clinched an endorsement deal, earning nearly 30 million, mostly in shares of FTX, according to the New York Times.

Michael Lewis's report further revealed that Bankman-Fried's relationship with the duo began with an agreement to pay Brady and Bündchen $55 million and close to $20 million, respectively.

In addition, Brady's salary from one of his last NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hovered around $30 million, according to Forbes.

This professional collaboration between Brady and Bankman-Fried developed into a personal bond, as highlighted in a recent 60 Minutes interview with Lewis.

Brady placed Bankman-Fried in high regard, Lewis said, finding him interesting and valuing his insights.

The financial and emotional impact of FTX's downfall had a profound effect on Brady, both financially and emotionally.

The shares he had been guaranteed to buy became worthless.
