The government will begin construction in January of next year on a new terminal at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the midst of growing competition from the region for hub status.
On Sunday, the chairman of the Kenya Airports Authority, Caleb Kositany, said the State is set to float a tender for the terminal that will increase the capacity of the congested airport.
Why did JKIA choose a single runway over 40 years later?
As he received the maiden flight of ASKY Airlines to Nairobi from Lome in Togo, Mr Kositany said, making it the first West African airline to make flights to East Africa.
He added that the agency has yet to make projections on the exact cost of the project.
Moi Airport, JKIA, ranked the best in Africa on customer service.
