Aptos Labs and Universal Pictures team up for The Exorcist

Aptos Labs, a Web3-based company, is teaming up with Universal Pictures to create a digital experience for the upcoming release of The Exorcist: Believer.

The movie, set to premiere on October 6th, offers an opportunity for horror fans to immerse themselves in a digital fan experience that's powered by the Aptos blockchain.

The film follows Leslie Odom Jr.'s relationship with Victor Fielding, played by Leslie Odom Jr., who goes into a supernatural affair after his daughter, Angela, played by Lidya Jewett, and her friend, Katherine, played by Olivia O'Neill, disappear into the woods and return three days later with no memory of what happened.

Fandango will provide a redemption code for the digital experience to those who purchase a ticket through the site, where they can collect exclusive artwork, see behind-the-scenes footage, and use an AR filter that features an exorcist theme. Users can enter to win various prizes.

Universal Pictures' vice president of technology, Greg Reed, said in a statement.

Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching, who previously worked at Meta's crypto payments network Diem, formerly Libra, founded Aptos Labs in 2021. With a Meta-designed programming language called Move, Aptos' blockchain was created to enhance security and help programmers avoid common mistakes.

Aptos Labs' partnership with Universal is the second foray into Hollywood. Earlier this year, the company collaborated with NBCUniversal for the release of the film Renfield by Nicolas Cage Dracula. Aptos created an online game where users had to find insects in a series of photos based on scenes from the movie.
