5th day of road blockades in Serbia continues

A fifth day of road blockades organised by protesting energy workers and miners continues. Protesters have asked the authorities to withdraw the territorial plans for a just-green transition of the coal mining areas, including Stara Zagora, Pernik and Kyustendil.

The Trakia and Struma highways remain closed near Stara Zagora and Dupnitsa, while the sub-Balkan road near Gurkovo is closed. There is a blockade in Radnevo on the road to Nova Zagora. The TPP and Ruse-Svilengrad international roads are also closed, as are the Stara Zagora-Dimitrovgrad roads. Detour routes have been provided.

To find a way out of this crisis, trade unions will pay a visit to the parliament today. Ministers of energy, regional development and the economy are to participate in the negotiations. The protesters want MPs from all parliamentary groups to take part in the talks.
