In two months, a decentralized exchange balancer was attacked.
The interface for Balancer, which is decentralized, is currently password-secured, according to the project's account on X.
The Discord project is calling it a domain name service attack, which involves directing the IP address - a number thatidentifies a computer connected to the internet - a URL resolves to.
A on-chain researcher, ZachXBT, said user funds were being redirected to an unknown Ethereum account, presumably the attacker's. There is currently $238,000 in the account.
Balancer's smart contracts are not violated, according to a moderator on the project's Discord. The site risks only the users who interact with it.
In just last month, the decentralized exchange shed hundreds of million pounds in total value locked as the team urged users to pull their assets off the platform.
Balancer has made effort to shore up its defenses in the past, for example, the company launched a $2 million bug bounty in 2021.
