U.S. charges Chinese nationals over fentanyl-related charges

The United States Department of Justice charged several Chinese businesses and their employees Tuesday in the latest round of charges related to the production and trafficking of fentanyl - a network that relied on cryptocurrency payments.

Alongside the criminal case, the U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control also sanctioned the list of Chinese citizens on Tuesday, identifying 16 associated crypto wallets.

The U.S. government has said the Florida network of 28 businesses and individuals was involved in manufacturing fentanyl and methamphetamine and the sale of precursor chemicals used to make the illegal drugs.
