Robert Kennedy Jr. vows to pardon Assange, Edward Snowden if elected president

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a Democratic presidential nominee, voiced his clear opposition to individuals such as Julian Assange and Edward Snowden.

In an interview with Bitcoin Magazine published on Wednesday, Kennedy Jr. vowed to pardon them on his first day in office if he was elected president. He also expressed interest in discussing the case of Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road, to determine the fairness of his conviction and sentence.

The government has pursued former Central Intelligence Agency contractor Edward Snowden, a self-proclaimed whistleblower, and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange for years, alleging they leaked sensitive and confidential information.

The Silk Road marketplace on the dark web has allowed users to buy almost anything, including illegal substances, with Bitcoin, thanks to Ulbricht, who has served two-and-a-half years in prison. The Silk Road website was created in 2011 and was eventually shut down in 2013 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

RFK Jr. asked about concerns about government influence or limitations on Bitcoin and Bitcoin mining, saying that government attacks on the cryptocurrency was the main reason for his worries. I am very concerned about the government's attacks on Bitcoin, he said. You know, what I would like to do is at least provide some issuance of treasury bills that it's backed by hard currency.

He proposed issuing treasury bills backed by hard assets, such as Bitcoin, platinum, gold, and silver, to provide more stability and independence from government control.
