Trump tax contractor accused of leaking Trump tax returns to public website

The former IRS contractor accused of leaking former President Donald Trump's tax returns revealed so many people's tax information that prosecutors want to notify the thousands of victims through a public website.

Charles Littlejohn, of Maryland, is accused of stealing information from millions of the nation's wealthiest individuals through the Internal Revenue Service. In court papers, Littlejohn allegedly leaked some of that information to national media organizations, including Trump's - and reporters published information on more than 150 victims.

Littlejohn has not yet filed a formal plea. The lawyer declined to comment on the allegations.

The federal law requires that prosecutors respond to all crime victims they can identify, and IRS regulations also require notification of all taxpayers whose return information was improperly disclosed.

The proposed webpage would appear on the Justice Department's website, prosecutors wrote and would provide a case summary, information and updates on the case, as well as hearing schedules and documents in the case.
