Hackers claim to steal $385,000 from friend.Tech

Even more Friend.Tech users are claiming that they have fallen victim to SIM swap attacks, with an estimated $385,000 worth of ether lost to such exploits since the start of this week.

The Friend.Tech code was not exploited. No users are at immediate risk. The application lets holders buy'shares' of people who hold an account on X that grants buyers certain privileges.

In the last 24 hours, three influential accounts from social app X, formerly Twitter, claimed they had been exploited, with the attacker holding ether held by those accounts.

The attackers take control of a mobile phone by tricking service providers to connect that phone number to a SIM card in the hacker's possession. Swapped phones can then be used for fraud.

Despite the bear market, Friend.Tech has been a widely used crypto platform, generating steady revenue and profits for its creators. With just a week to go, the software surpassed over 100,000 users.

Watkins added that he would not take any risks, adding, "It's a good thing that we are going to do on a daily basis, and that we are going to make the most of it.
