Crypto exchange offers reward to hacker who stole $8 million

Huobi Global, a cryptocurrency exchange, has announced the recovery of assets misappropriated in September by a cyber intruder, resulting in the individual receiving a $250 Ether ETH/USD incentive for their cooperation.

The transaction, which occurred on September 25, saw a significant amount of 5,000 ETH, valued at an estimated $8 million, siphoned from one of HTX's active wallets.

HTX immediately responded to the alleged hacker, asserting they had knowledge of the individual's identity.

As the crypto world grapples with such security issues, it's worth noting that topics like these will be addressed at the upcoming Benzinga Future of Digital Assets conference on Nov. 14.

By offering a 5% reward, equivalent to roughly $400,000, in exchange for the hacker returning 95% of the stolen funds by an Oct. 2 deadline, HTX proposed a deal.

FTX CTO Gary Wang revealed fraudulent practices at crypto exchange during the Bankman-Fried trial.
