
Israeli police have frozen cryptocurrency accounts linked to the Palestinian militant group Hamas, local media outlet Calcalist reported Tuesday.
A multi-pronged attack on Israel by Hamas over the weekend has broken into all-out war, with the former defense minister ordered a complete siege of the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.
The Israeli police department's cyber arm, Lahav 433, worked with the country's defense ministry, intelligence agencies and crypto exchange Binance to target the accounts in question. The Israeli government added that any money seized is destined for the Israeli national treasury.
A lawsuit filed March by the American Commodities Futures and Trading Commission accused Binance's CEO, Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao, of knowing about the platform. Israel has also seized around 190 Binance accounts with alleged links to terrorist groups since 2021.
Binance has asked for comment on CoinDesk's request.
