Caroline Ellison, the ex-CEO of Alameda Research, took the stand as the fifth witness for the prosecution of Sam Bankman-Fried, claiming that the former FTX CEO directed her to commit fraud and money laundering crimes.
Ellison has pleaded guilty and accepted plea agreements, alongside Gary Wang, the co-founder and CTO of FTX, and Nishad Singh, the director of engineering at FTX. From October 5 to midday on Tuesday, Wang testified in the trial.
Ellison and Bankman-Fried dated for a number of years on and off, she said, adding that they met while she was an intern at quantitative trading firm Jane Street.
Bankman-Fried is on trial for alleged fraud and other charges.
