S.S. regulators probe Twitter security lapse

The U.S. securities regulatory authority is looking into how Twitter managed a security lapse that exposed personal user information before billionaire Elon Musk bought the social media site last year, Bloomberg News reported.

The agency has been scrutinizing whether the former top executives did not accurately disclose those privacy issues to shareholders or put in place proper controls, according to the report, which cites people familiar with the matter.

The company was led by Jack Dorsey, with Ned Segal as CFO and Parag Agrawal as the chief technology officer.

The social media site had a bug that enabled outsiders to view user email addresses during password resets, which revealed the identity of users.

The social media platform was renamed X following the acquisition by Musk.
