A U.K. committee that includes members from various political parties wants the nation's government to work with non-fungible token marketplaces to address copyright infringement and introduce a code of conduct to better protect creators, according to a report released Wednesday.
A creative work created without permission from the creators and owners can result in copyright infringement. There have been several legal disputes between the U.S. and the U.K.
The chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Dame Caroline Dinenage, MP, said in an accompanying press release.
Some U.K. football clubs have been offering tokens that give members access to membership benefits like voting on club decisions, merchandise and unique experiences.
Dinenage said he had no idea about the report and didn't know what he was talking about.
The committee also asked those who promote NFTs to take responsibility to protect consumers.
