Gitcoin Presents has become the top NFT collection in terms of trading volume, accumulating 3,748 ETH within the past 24 hours, according to Nansen. Among its notable releases is a significant paper from 2018, co-authored by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and economists Zoe Hitzig and E. Glen Weyl, introducing the concept of quadratic funding. The collection, known as a 'record,' was an Open Edition, allowing for an unlimited number of tokens to be minted during a specific timeframe. Despite the drop in ETH's value to $1,440, the Open Edition drop raised approximately $663,000, with the majority allocated to the Gitcoin Grants Matching Pool. Gitcoin, a key organization behind this successful drop, has been a driving force in the development of public goods within the Ethereum community through its quadratic funding mechanism. However, some concerns arise with one prominent NFT trader, Machi Big Brother, acquiring a significant portion of Gitcoin Presents' supply. Nonetheless, the project continues to evolve with Metalabel's seven co-founders, including notable figures such as Yancey Strickler from Kickstarter and the founder of Etsy.
