According to Russia's Economic Development Minister, Maksim Reshetnikov, the use of ruble and yuan in Russia's foreign trade has risen to nearly 70% due to the country's swift shift away from Western currencies. Reshetnikov announced during the Russia-China Energy Business Forum in Beijing that the process of de-dollarization in Russia's trade with China is almost finished. Recent data from the Economic Development Ministry indicates that the yuan has surpassed the dollar in Russia's import settlements with China in 2022. These changes reflect Russia's decision to move away from currencies of "unfriendly countries" as a response to imposed sanctions. In addition, Reshetnikov also provided an optimistic outlook on Russia-China trade turnover, projecting that it could surpass the $200 billion target and potentially reach approximately $220 billion by the year's end.
