Romanians Evacuated from Gaza Arrive in Romania

The first group of Romanians who had been living in Gaza were safely evacuated to Bucharest on Thursday. This comes after a month of fear and insecurity caused by escalating violence in the region. The evacuees received medical and psychological consultations upon arrival and will soon be reunited with their families. The Romanian Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Israel, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States for their assistance. The government is continuing to work on evacuating more Romanian citizens from Gaza and is in dialogue with Israeli and Egyptian authorities.

A group of approximately 100 Romanian nationals and their families were successfully evacuated from the Gaza Strip and brought back to Romania. The evacuation was prompted by the deteriorating security situation in the region due to the violent clashes between Hamas and Israel. The evacuees were flown to Bucharest on a special plane provided by TAROM, the national air carrier. Upon arrival, they underwent medical, psychological, and consultation. The Romanian Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Israel, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States for their support in facilitating the evacuation. The government has pledged to assist any other Romanians who wish to leave Gaza. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in ongoing communication with Israeli and Egyptian authorities to facilitate further evacuations. A mobile consular team has been deployed to the Rafah checkpoint to provide assistance to those in need.
