Guernsey States schools are set to have an extra inset day in 2024 to provide staff with training on the new Code of Practice for Learners with Additional Needs and new IT systems as part of the Digital Roadmap improvement project in schools. The Committee for Education, Sport and Culture has emphasized the essential nature of the training, indicating that it is crucial for staff to receive full training on the new practices, marking a shift in the approach to supporting students with additional and special educational needs. Moreover, the committee is hopeful that the community will welcome the nine months' notice provided and recognize the significance of these positive steps for the schools and settings, despite the additional day. The code is expected to be published once formally agreed upon by the committee.
