The Pinewood Beach Resort and Spa was more than 50 percent full when the attackers forcibly entered the premises, assaulting staff and damaging property. The assailants, armed with machetes and assorted weapons, injured multiple staff members before being repelled by security guards, as reported by the hotel owner and the Diani Police Station. The arrested suspects are facing charges including malicious damage to property, assault, causing a disturbance, and trespassing.

The police report stated that the attackers, numbering about 100, managed to injure three staff members while the hotel's general manager claimed that 18 individuals were harmed. The violent incident resulted in the loss of a guest's camera but did not cause injuries to any guests. Consequently, the hotel experienced cancellations and a decrease in the number of guests following the attack.

Thirteen individuals have been arrested in connection with an attack on Pinewood Beach Resort and Spa at Diani Beach.
