Former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich has secured a prestigious State job as the Senior Advisor on Fiscal Affairs and Budget Policy in President William Ruto's office. The appointment, confirmed by Press Secretary to the Presidential Communication Service Emmanuel Talam, comes after Rotich's acquittal in the Sh63 billion Arror and Kimwarer dams graft case.
The court cleared Rotich and eight others due to insufficient evidence against them. Rotich had served as Treasury CS during former President Uhuru Kenyatta's two terms and was one of the few CSs retained throughout.
During the dams scandal, President Ruto criticized the case as a political witch hunt, asserting that no funds allocated to the project were stolen. Following Rotich's clearance, several organizations, including the Kenya Human Rights Commission, Transparency International, Katiba Institute, and Africa Center for Open Governance, filed a lawsuit against the prosecutors involved in the case.
