Plastic Surgeon Arrested in Connection to Wife's Death After Procedures at His Office

A plastic surgeon in northwest Florida, Benjamin Jacob Brown, has been taken into custody after over six months since the death of his wife, Hillary Ellington Brown, who suffered cardiac arrest following procedures at his office. Initial reports indicated that Benjamin Brown engaged in unauthorized procedures on patients, neglected sterility protocols, and did not promptly call for medical assistance or perform CPR when his wife faced complications during the surgeries. The arrest was made after an extensive investigation involving the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office, the medical examiner's office, and the state attorney's office.

According to authorities, Hillary Brown passed away a week after the medical emergency at Restore Plastic Surgery in Gulf Breeze, where she underwent muscle repair, abdominal scar revision, bilateral arm liposuction, and a lip injection. The investigation found that she exhibited lidocaine toxicity during the procedures, and Benjamin Brown's delayed response and failure to follow proper medical protocols were deemed as contributing factors to her death. Marty Ellington, Hillary's father, condemned Benjamin Brown for his negligent actions, emphasizing that his daughter's passing was a result of one individual's neglect and selfishness, depriving her of vital assistance and leading to irreversible harm.
