GERB Leader Boyko Borissov Comments on the Formation of a Government

Boyko Borissov, the head of the GERB party, conveyed to the newly elected MPs from GERB-SDS that the current circumstances do not allow for the establishment of a government. This statement follows unsuccessful discussions held by GERB - SDS with the parties of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) and "There are such a people" party, as other political entities declined negotiations with the largest parliamentary force resulting from the snap elections on June 9th. Despite plans to nominate Raya Nazaryan as the Speaker of the Parliament at the 50th National Assembly session, Borissov criticized other political forces for expecting GERB to assume all accountability for the country's situation over the past three years.

Borissov expressed skepticism towards the idea of participating in consecutive elections as a means to enhance electoral outcomes, particularly dismissing claims that he and Peevski would assume governance. He highlighted the impracticality of this scenario, emphasizing that saving one's party by remaining in opposition and disparaging those striving to navigate the country through its challenges is unjust and improbable. Borissov's comments reflect a sense of frustration regarding the incumbent political climate, where consensus and cooperation appear elusive, leading to uncertainties in the government formation process.
